Monument to Octavia Hill is the result of investigation into my local park: Hilly Fields, London SE4.

Octavia Hill was a Victorian activist instrumental in saving Hilly Fields from housing development. In 1896 she ensured the land was dedicated for the permanent and free use of the people. It is a vital exercise and recreation resource for the local community, but most park users don’t know its origins and there is no mention of Octavia in the park. This is a 55cm clay monument to  temporarily place on an existing plinth in the Hilly Fields (a decommissioned OS Trig Pillar). Octavia was also one of the founders of the National Trust.
